About the Business
This tapestry was badly damaged by soots from a fire in a local manor house. The insurers wanted to send it to mainland cleaners as they didn't know any on the island. I had done a number of courses involving hand cleaning of tapestries and antique rugs with mainland cleaning companies and also the National Carpet Cleaners Association as their member for the island.
The tapestry was fixed and I had to work on a platform to reach the top. It took three days to clean and it cleaned perfectly. It is still the most satisfying job I ever did although we have now completed many others.
